David Earl Thompson Sr., 70, of Maidsville WV passed away at home on Tuesday April 20, 2021 surrounded by his family. Son of the late Ernest Sr. and Juanita Thompson of Maidsville WV. He was born on November 10, 1950.
David was a retired coal miner and Vietnam veteran. He loved riding his motorcycle and hanging out at his house with his family and friends. What he cherished the most was spending time with his four grandchildren, David “Little Man” Thompson III, Taylor Lynn Nelson, Hunter Thompson, and Alex Wade.
David is survived by his three children David Thompson Jr. II, April Wade and husband Eric, Danielle Thompson; brothers and sisters, Joseph Ralph Nethken, Ernest William “Bill” Thompson Jr., Robert Leon “Bob” Thompson Sr. and wife Judy, Nancy Heord and husband John, Rosalee Gray and Jodi Arnett and husband David, and several nephews and nieces he loved like his own.
In addition to his parents, David preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Sharon Lynn; brother, James Thompson; brother-in-law and best friend Joseph P Gray; sisters-in-laws, Nancy “Jane” Nethken and Katherine Thompson.
The Thompson family would like to give a special thank you to WVU Hospice nurses Debbie Gaskins, Trish Hess, and Tamera (Tammy) Cole, also driver Joe Pumphrey from WVU medicine.
Friends and family will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 6-8 pm and again on Friday from 11 am until the time of the service at 12 pm. David will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery.
