David S. Lewis

David Stanley Lewis, 93, known as Pappy or Bert passed away Friday January 1, 2010 at the Golden Living Center. He was a long time resident of the Grafton Road. Pappy was born June 22, 1916 in Terra Alta, WV son of Scott and Laura Nine Lewis. Pappy married Anna Ellen Ringer on May 7, 1938 in Oakland Maryland. Pappy worked as a coal miner his entire life at different mines as a mechanic. He loved hunting and fishing and tinkering with engines and motors. He taught his sons and grandsons many things. He loved his dog Boy. He is survived by his wife of 71 years Anna Ellen ‘Tootie’ Lewis. Together they had five children; daughter Evelyn Sapp and husband Leroy of Lake Lynn, PA; sons James Lewis and wife Verna of Morgantown, Donald Lewis and wife Joyce of Morgantown, Billie Lewis and wife Kyleen of Morgantown and daughter Theresa Zinn and husband Keith of Virginia Beach, VA. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Chester ‘Doc’ Lewis and two sisters Floria Keller and Clarice Jeffers. Friends will be received 3-6pm Sunday Jan. 3, 2010 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home and again on Monday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Karen Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
