David Dale Everly Sr. (Dave) passed away on April 29, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. He was born January 8, 1938 in Morgantown, the son of Dwight and Bess Everly. He was a life- long resident of Cheat Lake. Dave was a 1955 graduate of University High. While attending UHS he participated on the baseball and wrestling teams where he received much recognition. Dave served his country in the Army National Guard from 1963-1967. He was an auto body man by trade, owning his own business, Everly's Body Shop where people appreciated his honest, hard work. After retirement he focused his car skills on restoring a 1939 Chevy Truck. He loved going to car shows with family and friends. His passion was with anything that had a motor. He raced cars at Morgantown Speedway and other local tracks from 1959-1970. He continued his love of racing with his son through 1996. Dave's garage was always open and full of friends sharing stories of the good times on and off the track. During Dave's later years his focus and love was on his grandchildren. He loved to attend their athletic games and events and advise them in life. He served as a role model for hard work, dedication and compassion for others. Holidays were very special family times. Dave spent his days with the love of his life, Jackie. They would have been married 56 years this August. They enjoyed watching wildlife and reading together. He loved that she was a fabulous cook and took such good care of him. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jacqueline Jackie' Murray Everly; son David Everly Jr and wife Lisa; daughter Suzanne Everly Ernstes and husband Bill. He had four grandchildren, Jacqueline and Julianna Everly, Caroline and Jack Ernstes. He was also survived by brothers Chuck Everly and wife Thomasene, Jay Everly and wife Debbie, Jerry Everly and wife Karen and one sister Sue Horton and husband Dick. He had several special nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law Louise Calandrelli and husband Alva, Christine Dunn and husband Mark, and one brother-in-law Fred Murray and wife Shirley. Besides his very close family that he loved tremendously he cared for the many special friends who visited and called often. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm and again on Monday from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Pastor Kenny Rockwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Fletcher Cemetery. Donations in his honor can be made to Fletcher Cemetery C/O Margaret Hare, 777 Fairchance Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 for the care and upkeep of the grounds.
