David Lester Chedester

David Lester Chedester, 76, of Independence, WV stepped into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on June 15, 2016. He was born near Kingwood, WV, January 7, 1940 to the late Kore Queen Chedester and Elsie Ann Rhodes Chedester.

David was honorably discharged in 1965 after serving seven years of active duty with the military. He was called to preach the Word of God in 1968. He pastored churches in Kentucky, Maryland, and Georgia. He also worked with the Billy Graham Film Ministry in south Georgia. He founded and pastored Faith Christian Fellowship of Morgantown, WV since 1979. His vision was to preach and teach Faith in the Word of God.

Pastor Chedester is a graduate of Clear Creek Baptist College (1971), Rhema Bible Training Center (1977), Southern Bible Institute and Seminary (2008), West Virginia Christian University (2015). He served on the faculty of West Virginia Christian University.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Berry Chedester of Independence, WV; son, David Berry Chedester of Tulsa, OK; daughter Elizabeth Anne Chedester of Tulsa, OK; brothers Lewis Chedester of Howesville, WV, James (June) Chedester of Waldorf, MD; sister, Rosemary Born of Reedsville, WV and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Quarren, John, and Bill Chedester; sisters, Adaline Chedester, Lenora Billotti, and Ruth Carmen Rhodes.

Honoring David’s request, cremation services will be provided by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held at Faith Christian Fellowship on the Grafton Road on Sunday, June 19th from 4 until 8pm. Visitation will continue Monday, June 20th from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Rev. Lonnie Hilton of Faith Christian Fellowship Int’l and several area pastors.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to FCF Building Fund to complete projects that were on Pastor David’s heart.
