Daryl E. Price,

68, of Westover, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 27, 1947 to Irene Fain. At the age of 13, Daryl, was received into the arms of his beloved mother, Jessie Mae Smith who precedes him in death.

Daryl retired from the City of Morgantown, after 38 years of service and was given a key to the city. Daryl was also employed for over 25 years at Gabes in Morgantown, up until the time of his illness. Daryl had previously worked for the Bellman’s at their laundry and cleaners for several years.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Gladys Mayle Price; his beloved sons, Christopher Morgan Mayle and his wife, Katie, and Michael Allen Price, both of Morgantown. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Joshua “Joshie Cat” Mayle, Gianna Knight, and Dominic DeMasi; sisters: Eglociree Walker (Donald), Jeanette Smith (Lennard), LaSharon Smith, and Joyce Campbell (Milton); three brothers, Larry Williams, Carl J. Smith (Trina), and Donald Smith (Patricia). Daryl was loved dearly by his wife’s sister and her husband, Sandy and Raymond Clinton and their family.

Daryl is preceded in death by six brothers: Robert Price, Kenny Williams, Robert J. Smith, Eddie Smith, Marcus “Champ” Smith, and Gwathney Smith.

Daryl was an excellent cook and he loved cooking big holiday meals for his family. He was an avid Mountaineer fan. Daryl never met a stranger and he will be greatly missed along with his big heart and smile.

The family wishes to send out a special Thank You to Daryl’s oncologist, Mr. Miklos L. Auber and his staff at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, and the 9W staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Daryl was provided excellent care with this team of professionals.

Family and friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again Thursday from 11 a.m. until the 12 p.m. service in the funeral home, with Pastor Gwendolyn McKinley officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
