Darrell Francis Whipkey

Darrell Francis Whipkey, 84 of Morgantown, WV, passed away Wednesday October 12, 2011 at the Mapleshire Nursing Home. Darrell was born October 26, 1926 in Morgantown son of the late Dennis Johnson and Lena Shearer Whipkey. Darrell retired from the Monongalia County Board of Education with 25 years of service as a custodian at Morgantown High School. Darrell was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He was a former member of Sabraton Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking with his brother Wendell. Darrell is survived by his son Donald Whipkey and wife Deborah of Morgantown; two daughters Charlotte Johnston and husband Ken of Grafton and Darlene Rilko of Morgantown. Also surviving is one brother William Whipkey of Canyon Rd.; grandchildren, Andrea Baer and husband Brett, Dawn Mollohan and husband Chris, Amanda Hall, Jean Claude Stryffeler, Anthony Johnston and Corinthia Rilko; great grandchildren, Justus Mollohan, Chloe Mollohan, Leslie Brown, William Geier, Trenton Baer and Sophia Baer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Velma Whipkey and six brothers, Robert, Dwayne, Lester, Eugene, Kenneth and Wendell. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Friday Oct. 14 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Saturday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
