Colton Joseph Raber

It is with a completely broken heart that the family of Colton Joseph Raber, age 26, of Jakes Run (Fairview), WV, shares that he unexpectedly passed away. Colton left this earth bound for his next adventure with our Lord Jesus on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home. He was born June 6, 1995, in Morgantown, WV, the youngest son of Ronald E. Raber Jr & Barbara M. (Saunders) Raber of Jakes Run. In addition to his parents, Colton leaves to cherish the good times, his older brother, Corey (Stefani) Raber, his nephew Carson, and his maternal grandparents, George and Pastor Rose Saunders, all of Jakes Run; godparents Pastor Jerry and Suzie Teter of Daybrook, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald and Rita Moore, and his furry little “brother” Throttle. Colton was a 2013 graduate of Clay Battelle High School & graduated in the top 10 of his class. He attended Fairmont State University and West Virginia University. He loved learning new things. Weekend after weekend the family would load up the “rig” and head to the next motocross track. In his middle and high school years, Colton was an accomplished PAMX motocross racer, and loved to kick up the dirt everywhere he went. One of his favorite places to go for the weekend was Fly MX Park in Sardis, Ohio, whether it was racing, practicing or just having fun. Although his motocross career was peppered with injury, yet he persevered. Motocross was 24 / 7 at our house! Colton and his brother Corey enjoyed putting many hours on their dad’s tractor building a motocross track with lots of cool jumps at the Raber Compound. They loved having their friends over to race the infamous track they tirelessly made in their yard. It was an awesome site to see! Colton truly loved motocross and made his way up the ranks. He was racing B class when he stopped to attend college & work. Colton hoped that one day he could return to his passion of racing. Colton loved the outdoors! From hiking in National & State Parks, to kayaking, swimming, running, bicycling, riding four wheelers, side by sides, dirt & street bikes. He enjoyed walks with his mom. Colton liked watching sunrises & sunsets along with taking snapshots of God’s picturesque sky. He also loved playing his guitar & listening to music. He loved to travel. Colton enjoyed spending time with his family that he loved so very much, especially his nephew Carson. They shared a very special bond! Colton was a hard worker and excelled in almost every endeavor he set his mind to. He was always trying to help someone no matter what the cause or situation. Colton was always putting everyone ahead of himself. He had such a kind soul. His compassion and loving heart made him extra special. Colton’s smile was contagious & would light up a room! His heart was immeasurable. Colton, we miss you and love you more than words can express. If our love could have saved you, you would still be here with us. We look forward to the day when we will all be joined back together again. Until that time, we will keep your memory alive! In lieu of a public service, the family will hold a very private service for Colton. The family is planning a Celebration of Life to honor Colton at a later date with family & friends. The family requests that if you wish to honor Colton’s memory by planting a tree or another act of kindness in his memory, please share these moments with us!
