Clara June Pounds

Clara June Pounds, 56, of Morgantown, WV passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 17, 2021, following a brief illness. She was born in Baltimore, MD the daughter of Shirley Bise Pounds of Hazelton, WV, and the late Dewey E. Pounds.

In addition to her mother, Clara is survived by two sons, Derrick and Aaron Pounds both of Morgantown; three sisters, Anita Zybell and husband Raymond of Morgantown, Bonnie Perine, and husband Perry of Hazelton, WV and Donna Mayle of Moatsville, WV. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey E. Pounds, and her brother-in-law Bliss Mayle.

Clara graduated from University High School and then enlisted in the US Army.

She enjoyed singing, listening to music, and reading and dancing. She attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, from 10 am until the time of services at noon with Rev. Lynda Masters officiating. Clara will be laid to rest at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by WVANG, Camp Dawson, and Westover VFW Post 9916.
