Clara Jane DeWitt, 81, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, surrounded by family at WVU Medicine Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Clarksburg, WV on August 29, 1941, daughter of the late Otis and Jettie Yeater.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Joe Yeater. Clara is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Thomas DeWitt; son, Timothy DeWitt; daughter, Jennifer DeWitt; brother, John and spouse Margaret Yeater; sisters Marjorie and spouse Paul Kiddy & Martha Yeater.
One of Clara’s best qualities was being a wonderful grandmother to many grandchildren including Brandon DeWitt, Tiffany and Brian DeBiase, Kirk Riley, Hillary DeWitt, & Emily DeWitt and Max Jacobson; great-grandchildren Gunner Riley, Seth DeBiase, Piper Hookala, Ryan Cahall, Grayson Cahall, Jackson Cahall, and Miles Jacobson. She was also very closely involved in the lives of numerous nieces & nephews who loved her greatly.
Clara was a homemaker and involved in many community activities throughout her life. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, Cheat Lake CEOS, and numerous volunteer programs. In her free time, Clara enjoyed going to her local church, doing puzzles, reading books, and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Friends and family are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 3PM to 7PM and again on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11AM with Pastor Jeremiah Bostic officiating. Following the service, Clara will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
