Chester Sollars, Jr.

Chester Sollars Jr., 68, of Morgantown passed away peacefully at home on Friday March 25, 2016 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 14, 1947 in Morgantown a son of Mary Sollars of Morgantown and the late Chester Sollars, Sr.

Chester served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He worked 21 years for CONSOL Coal Company and later 20 years at Mylan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid golfer and member of Mountaineer Golf Course. He liked traveling to Myrtle Beach, riding his Harley, and driving his Corvette.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Helen Buffalo Sollars of Morgantown; two daughters Brooke Bell and husband Matt of Morgantown, Dannette Ables and husband Mike of Winchester, VA; grandchildren Haleigh Bell, Taylor Bell, Braden Bell all of Morgantown, Jenna Ables, Mason Ables both of Winchester, VA; sisters Janet and Kathy; sister-in-law Sandra Buffalo; bother-in-law Reno Buffalo, Jr. and wife Nancy all of Morgantown.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Reno Buffalo, Sr. and Virgie Buffalo.

Chester was a great loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kurian and the staff at Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, and all of the nurses and staff on 9 West at Ruby Memorial Hospital, especially Josh, and to Morgantown Hospice for all of their care and support.

Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday March 28, 2016 from 4pm-8pm and again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Rev. Matt Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
