Charles Joseph "Junior" Shumiloff, a soul recognized for his unwavering kindness and friendly demeanor, closed his earthly chapter on December 6th, 2024, following a long illness. His life story began on March 12th, 1942, in Booth, WV, where he entered the world as a beacon of warmth and light to his late parents, Charles and Mildred Shumiloff.
Junior's love story is punctuated by his 45 years with the love of his life, Belva Walls, who, along with his parents, preceded him in death. The strong family ties extend to his siblings - Richard and Pearl, who have previously passed, and his brother Tom and wife Jeanette; sisters, Barbara Sopuch of Morgantown and Anna Graham of Texas, who survive him. His life also touched numerous nieces and nephews who will hold their memories of him close to their hearts.
In 1965, Junior ventured from Morgantown to Texas and later Ohio, seeking new opportunities. There he carved a career in the service industry of local hospitals, working tirelessly until his retirement from laundry services. Upon retiring, Junior returned to his roots in Morgantown, where the fabric of the local community was enriched by his presence.
An avid Cleveland Browns fan, Junior's voice was often heard crackling over CB radios, reaching out for genuine conversation and connection. He had a way of brightening the days of children, always ready with a piece of candy and a grin. His love for a good meal and even greater company was evident to all who joined him at the table - for Junior, the fellowship was just as important as the fare on his plate.
The family wishes to extend their profound gratitude to Junior's neighbors whose care and concern greatly enhanced the quality of his later years. Such compassion and companionship have forever marked their kindness in the hearts of those who loved him.
In honoring Junior's wishes for privacy, his siblings will organize private services. He will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Belva at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
To encapsulate the essence of Charles Joseph "Junior" Shumiloff in mere words is to speak of love, kindness, and a friendliness that touched all. His legacy is one of simple pleasures, shared moments, and a benevolent spirit that will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
