Charles D. Shields

Charles D. ‘Charlie’ Shields, 76, of Granville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at his home. He was born June 22, 1944, in Morgantown, a son of the late Charles Shields and Betty Maxwell Shields Shumiloff.

Charlie honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps for six years. After his service to our country, Charlie worked as an LPN in St. Joseph, OH, and later worked as an LPN/Aide for Monongalia County Board of Education.

He was a faithful Christian and attended Mt. Calvary Assembly of God and later HOPE Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading his Bible and going on drives. Charlie loved being outdoors, tending to his plants and flowers. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 24 years Rose Marie Shields of Granville, and many other family members and friends.

Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, there will not be any services.

Honoring Charlie’s wishes, cremation is being provided by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Town of Granville employees and all of the first responders who cared for Charlie.
