Charles Paul Phillips

Charles Paul Phillips, 68, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his home. Charles was born March 19, 1948, in Morgantown, son of the late Paul B. ‘Dutch’ and Lou Willa Phillips.

Charles worked as a coal miner for CONSOL for 30 years, at Arkwright and Loveridge coal mines. After retiring from the coal mine, he worked for the Oleksa Enterprises. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and spend time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Pioneer Sportsman’s Club.

Surviving are his daughter, Leigh Ann Bean and husband Keith; daughter-in-law, Julie Phillips; the pride and joy of his life, grandson, Tristan Phillips and granddaughter Emma Bean; sisters, Carolyn Hagedorn and husband Eldon and Patricia Greer and husband Darrell; brothers-in-law, Larry Shannon and wife Arline, Ron Shannon and wife Marcia and Carl Myers.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, Helen Lee Shannon Phillips, whom he married on July 2, 1966; beloved son, Charles Richard ‘Rick’ Phillips; in-laws, Walter H. ‘Red’ and Mary Delores Shannon; sister-in-law, Carolyn Myers and nephews, Jeff Greer and Brian Hagedorn.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 4pm until 8pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Brad Hudson officiating. Charles will be laid to rest beside of his wife Helen at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
