Charles R. Davis

Charles R. Davis Jr., passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his daughters after a 4-year battle with cancer. Charles was a kind and generous father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He grew up in a loving family in Morgantown, graduated from Morgantown High School and joined the United States Army in 1958. After service in the Army he became a machinist and lived in Akron, Ohio.

In 1974 Charles returned to Morgantown and perfected his machinist skills at Morgantown Machine and Hydraulics until his retirement in 2001. He built, managed and maintained student apartments as well as his own home.

He is survived by sisters Evelyn Lois McCauley and Nancy Carol Masters, daughters Jeanne Severino, Gwendolyn Tracey Davis, and Nicole Leanne Olexa, son-in-laws Michael Severino and Raymond Olexa, and grandchildren Micah C. Severino, Thor Severino, Grace Avery Olexa and Rae Evelyn Olexa. Charles R. Davis senior, Evelyn Ruth Davis, Shirley Davis and Carol Ann Roegge Davis, precedes him in death.

Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 4 to 8 pm and again on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 10am until the 11am service with Rev. Dr. Gary Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Morgantown, WV.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Charles’ memory to Morgantown Hospice.
