Cecilia C. Skergan

Cecilia C. CeCe' Skergan, 85 of Morgantown, WV passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday January 20, 2011 with her daughters by her side. She was born April 29, 1925 in Morgantown daughter of the late Thomas C. Sargent and Cecelia A. Gibony Sargent. Cecilia graduated from St. Francis High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the St. Francis Grade School and also worked in the cafeteria. She later was employed at West Virginia University part-time for the comptroller's office. She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was very active in many church programs. She served as a lay minister, teacher, sang in the choir and helped with funeral masses. She was active in the marriage preparation program and also served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound and at the altar. She is survived by her three daughters; Mary C. Watson and husband David of Woodbridge, VA, Ruth Ann Stalnaker and husband John of Huntsville, AL and Debbie K. Dugger and husband Bill of Flagler Beach, FL; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Justine Straight and husband Stanley of Morgantown. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard C. Skergan, Sr.; son Richard C. Skergan, Jr.; one daughter Cecilia J. Wood; brother Thomas F. Sargent; infant sister Thelma J. Sargent and sister Mary Henderson. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Wednesday January 26, 2011 from 6-8pm and on Thursday at the St. Francis de Sales Church from 3-6pm with scripture vigil at 5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Friday at the St. Francis de Sales Church with the V. Rev. Mark G. Ward, CP, VF as celebrant. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Francis de Sales Church 1 Guthrie Lane Morgantown, WV 26508.
