Calvin Edgell

Calvin Creed Edgell, 79, of Morgantown, departed this life on Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was born February 27, 1946, in Maidsville, West Virginia, to Loman A. and Sylvia Wagner Edgell.

Calvin was a member of the Painters' Union, Local #850. He worked on many buildings in the Morgantown area, such as the Coliseum, Creative Arts, WVU Hospital, and NIOSH, to name a few. In 1976, he became self-employed, working in the Morgantown, Pt Marion, and Uniontown areas for various businesses and private homeowners. He enjoyed large and small projects, seeing them come together so that others could enjoy his handiwork. He was most definitely happiest when working.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie Taylor Edgell; two daughters, Michelle (James) Britton and Stephanie (Richard) Snider; one son, Calvin Wesley Edgell; and fiancée, Jocelyn Mitchell. Their grandsons, Caleb (Tori) Britton, Joshua Britton, and Jaceb "Stewie" Edgell, one sister, Wanda Dewitt, all of Morgantown. One sister-in-law, Clara Edgell of Pt Marion, PA. Also, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Jelly Bean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loman and Sylvia Edgell; one son, Calvin Bradley Edgell; two sisters, Delphia Marquess and Eileen Edgell; two brothers, Leroy Edgell and James Lee Edgell; and two brothers-in-law, Floyd Marquess and Richard Dewitt.

The family will honor Calvin's wishes for a private graveside service, officiated by Rev. Wheeler Estepp.
