Clara ‘Frances’ McMillen Johnson, 93, of Pursglove, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at home under the care of her beloved daughter Tammy Ponceroff. Frances was born in Doddridge County, WV, on October 15, 1926, a daughter to Charles and Molly Hyde.
Frances retired in 1989 as a seamstress from the Morgan Shirt Factory. During her retirement, she cared for her grandchildren, making them dresses and outfits all while working in the community, sewing for friends and anyone in need. She also loved needlepoint cooking, baking, and tending her garden. Frances was very fond of her fur babies and adored her Yorkshire terriers.
Frances is survived by her daughter Tammy Ponceroff (Randy) of Morgantown; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Ruth McMillen and her beloved pup Chanel.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Molly; her first husband, Clark McMillen; second husband, Harry Johnson; children, Sonny McMillen, Carolyn McMillen Casteel, and Perry McMillen; sister, Marie Belt and brother Mickey Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer on Thursday from noon until the time of services at 2 pm with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
