Burl D. Sharp, 72, of Cheat Lake, WV went to be with his Lord, on Thursday April 5, 2018 at his home following a long illness. He was born July 10, 1945 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late Walter and Katherine Booth Sharp. Burl served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1963. He is also retired as a machinist. Burl was a member of the American Legion Post 174 for nearly 30 years.
Burl not only served our country but was a wonderful father figure, grandfather figure and was also a son, brother, uncle and friend. When Once Burl got to know you, he would be a friend for life. His selfless character and compassion for his friends and comrades coupled with his sense of humor and quick wit would eternally bond you forever. He will be missed by so many.
He is survived by Kristy Pechinko, whom he considered a daughter, James ‘Jimmy’ Morton, whom he considered a son and was a grandfather to Logan and Joshua Sanders all of Morgantown. Also surviving are his sisters, Geneva Deemer and husband Don, Jean Jones all New Cumberland, WV, Margie Swiger of Poconos, PA; brother Edward Sharp of Morgantown; as well as numerous friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Junior and Robert ‘Bob’ Sharp, sister Elizabeth Eddy; two wives Wanda and Jackie Sharp and longtime companion Judith Morton.
Burl requested to be cremated with no visitation or funeral but did want everyone to gather and remember him at one of his favorite places, the American Legion Post, 174 in Dellslow,WV. The date and times will be announced when finalized.
