Bonnie Jean Neely

Bonnie Jean Neely, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023, at her home in Mount Morris, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 1, 1932, in Core, WV, Bonnie lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her kindness, friendliness, and love for her family and community.

Bonnie was the beloved wife of Albert 'Abb' Neely of Mount Morris, PA for 69 years, and a loving mother to her sons, Dave Neely and his wife Mary of Morgantown, and Dan Neely and his wife Barb of Core. She was also a cherished sister to Betty J. Owen of Pentress, WV. Bonnie was a doting grandmother to Braden Neely and his wife Halley, Meg Watson and her husband Josh, Braelynn Neely, and Grace Neely.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Olive Myers Morris, and her brother-in-law, Bob Owen.

Bonnie was a dedicated member of both the Mount Morris United Methodist Church and Doll's Run Christian Church of Core. Her faith was an integral part of her life and served as a foundation for her kindness and generosity. In addition, Bonnie was an active participant in the Pythian Sisters Lodge #18 of Core, the WSCS of Mount Morris, the Mount Morris Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and The Thimble Club. Her commitment to these organizations demonstrated her dedication to her community and her desire to make a positive impact.

Bonnie was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed the simple pleasure of maintaining a clean and welcoming home. Bonnie was also known for her love of walking. She was an avid walker who, with her friends, would walk up to three miles a day until she was 80. This passion for walking was just one of the many ways Bonnie demonstrated her commitment to living a healthy and active life. In addition to walking, Bonnie also enjoyed playing cards, a pastime that brought her much joy and provided countless hours of fun and camaraderie with her friends and family.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 6pm – 8pm and again on Monday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor James Dolo officiating. Bonnie will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mount Morris, PA.
