Bob Mcmillen

August 20, 1959 — May 1, 2019

Lawrence Robert ‘Bob’ McMillen, 59, of the Kingwood Pike, Morgantown passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Bob fought courageously for more than 20 years against heart failure. He is finally at rest.

Bob was born in Morgantown on August 20, 1959, son to Betty Smith McMillen of Morgantown and the late Lawrence Foster McMillen. He worked as a cement mason for the Cement Masons Local 926 Area 711.

Bob was an avid lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a very talented carpenter. Projects from the smallest toys to finishing his own home and kitchen, he took great pride in the craftsmanship of working with his hands. Bob was a great story teller. Those closest to him can recount the many adventures he experienced. Everything from his ‘graduation’ from Fairmont State University to joining the Peace Corps, Bob could entertain you for hours on end. He had the greatest sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to laugh at himself. Nothing was off limits, including footy pajamas and bikinis!

His quick wit and intoxicating personality will be cherished by so many.

Including his mother Betty, surviving are his wife Melinda McMillen; three daughters, Chasity Eavenson and husband Jeff of Kingwood, Jamie Lynn Anderson and husband Terry of Morgantown, Crystal Johnson and the late Jeremiah Johnson of Chuckey, TN; five sons, Tim Hanlin and wife Jennifer of Fairview, WV, Lonnie ‘LJ’ Matthews of Pt Marion, PA, Billy Joe Matthews and Shane Matthews both of Cheat Lake, WV and Brandon Matthews and wife Ally Atkinson of Morgantown. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; sisters, Linda McDonald; Karen Honeycutt and husband Samson, Peggy Taylor and husband Mark and Mary Louise Haas and husband Roy; one brother, Steve McMillen and wife Heather all of Morgantown; brothers-in-law Rodney Gardener and wife Deloris, Roger Blaney and wife Deborah all of Morgantown and sister-in-law Cindy Long and husband Andy Lilly of Connellsville, PA and several nieces and nephews.
