Billy Ray Leighty, 63, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Billy was born on April 5, 1959, in Cleveland, OH to the late Jacob Leighty and Anna Mogyoros-Leighty.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his son, Donald Leighty; his loving friend and partner, Judy Born; and his faithful canine companion, Scrappy.
He is survived by his sons, Jessie Leighty, Billy Leighty Jr. and partner Shelby Hostutler, all of Morgantown; his brother, Jacob and Rene Leighty of Michigan; his sisters, Kay and Ralph David of Morgantown and Debra Corte of Michigan; his grandchild, Brixtyn Leighty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Being an automotive technician for most of his life, you could naturally find Billy working on cars in his spare time. While not in the garage, he loved drawing, gardening, and playing the drums, but enjoyed nothing more than making people smile. Billy had an amazing sense of humor, and could brighten anyone’s darkest day in an instant. His laughter was infectious, and will be missed dearly by the ones he loved.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 4pm until the time of the service at 6pm with Jacob Leighty officiating. Billy will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 7 at 10am, with the funeral procession leaving Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home at 9:40am.
