Billy Ray Leighty

February 20, 1931 — January 24, 2014

Billy Ray Leighty, 82, of the Grafton Road, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, January 24, 2014. Billy was born February 20, 1931 in Cassville, WV the son of the late Jessie and Maude Ricewick Leighty. He worked as a laborer for the Local Union 357. He was also a Veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Billy Ray is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Flo Leighty, his daughter, Lisa Musick; grandchildren, Nick Musick, Chelsea Musick and C.J. Leighty; great grandchildren, Raven Musick and Tristan Musick and two sisters, Mickey Poling of Granville, and Gail Wright of Springville, TN and one brother Dick Leighty of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are his step-children, Larry McDonald and wife Tammy and daughter Kaylee, Cheryl Stevens and husband Dave, Linda Brown and husband Terry, Michelle Henderson and son Josh and Gregg McDonald and daughter Summer. In addition to his parents, Billy Ray was preceded in death by four sisters, Marion Stevens, Betty Goss, Wilma Hawkins and Shirley Panrell and two brothers Jake Leighty and Richard Leighty. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Special thanks to Morgantown Hospice and daughter Cheryl who helped in so many ways. Also thanks to niece Betty who brought him breakfast many times, daughter Michelle for the many cream pies and son-in-law, Dave for keeping the driveway clear for emergencies. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday January 26, 2014 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday January 27, at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer with Chaplin Adam Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by the WVANG, Camp Dawson and Westover VFW Post 9916.
