Beverly Dean Dalton, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on June 12, 1958, in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (McMillen) Dalton. She grew up on her father’s farm, playing and sharing memories with her six siblings. She met her husband and married him in 1976, and they eventually started a family of their own.
Beverly is survived and missed by her loving husband Kenneth Dalton of 48 years; and their children Amanda Nestor and husband David Nestor Jr., and Erica Davis and husband Mark Davis. Beverly was a devoted and cherished grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, Olivia Nestor (Libby Cats), Skylar Davis (Sky Bugs), and David Nestor III a.k.a Buddy (Button Boys). The bond and memories they shared were like no other. She loved the time she spent with her sisters, Shelby (Jackie) Hart and Barbara (Babsi) Nicholson. She was loved by her mother-in-law Shirley (Oodles) Dalton who Beverly saw as her second mom. She adored her in-laws Amy and Timmy Hawkins, Pam and Jeff Hart, and Donna Dalton. She also dedicated her time to taking care of her dog, Reese, and her 3 granddogs, Luna, Dexter, and Harley. Her memory lives on with all of her family, and friends, including several nieces, nephews, and neighbors who loved to spend time with her.
She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Dalton and wife Cindy, her brother Harold (Hoy) Dalton and wife Thelma, her sister Dana (Dani) Dalton and husband Douglas (Son), her sister Wilma (Pee Pee) and husband Rev. Francis (Jake) Nicholson; her brother in laws, Delmar (Bimbo) Nicholson, Henry (June) Hart, Edward (Eddie) Dalton, and Douglas (Doug) Dalton, and her father-in-law Daryl (John) Dalton.
Beverly worked as an administrative secretary at WVU Carruth Center for over 30 years before retiring. In her free time, she spent time with her family and friends. She also used her time after retirement to keep her mind sharp. She loved to read in her spare time and seized the opportunity to play puzzles and coloring games, play Bible Jeopardy with her family, and go to the local senior center to chat with her friends.
Beverly was an avid member, leader, and piano player at Mountainview Pentecostal Church where she adored and supported, Pastor Donna Dalton and her church family. Beverly held all of her church families and loved ones at the churches she visited close to her heart.
She took an active role in the lives of her husband, children, and grandchildren and was close to all of them. She cherished the quiet mornings Kenny and she spent, drinking coffee, joking, and eating breakfast. They loved to go to Eat ‘n Park together and eat at the salad bar. She loved having Friday night game nights and karaoke nights. Her favorite songs to sing were “Hooked On a Feeling” and “I’ll Fly Away” with her grandchildren. She loved to go shopping with her two girls, Mandy and Erica. They were inseparable and truly were three peas in a pod. They did everything together from hair appointments to going on a simple trip to Walmart. She loved to go on little adventures with her grandchildren, and you would never know where they would end up. The four of them always cracked jokes and found ways to make each other laugh. She made every holiday, weekend, and day special to them because of her simple smile, and hearing the sound of their nicknames.
She loved to cook with her son-in-law Mark, and they would love to make Sunday night dinner together. She was known for her famous dishes like homemade gravy, chili, potato cakes, and strawberry poke cake. She loved sweets and wasn’t afraid to share a slice of cake with anyone. She would exchange biblical information with her son-in-law David, and they have thoughtful, philosophical conversations that anyone would love to hear. She had such a thirst for knowledge of the Bible and living a life with meaning. She had her own special bond with each of them and was often the mediator between everyone. She loved and prayed for every one of them daily.
Beverly was one of the most creative people in the world, as she loved to play piano, sing, and dance around with a smile on her face. If you were looking for her, she would be in her bedroom playing the piano, and escaping through the music. She taught the piano for many years and loved to teach young children the art. She loved to sing throughout her house and often would make up her own little tunes and poems whenever inspiration struck. If there was a song playing in the background, then she was dancing, whether it was her hips swaying or her foot tapping, she let the rhythm of the music flow through her. She expressed her creativity through her clothes and accessories. If she was in the room, there was no chance you would see her without her “bling” on. She always dressed for the occasion and wore her favorite clothes, necklaces, and rings that all had to coordinate.
She loved to travel with her loved ones, including going to her favorite places Ocean City, MD, Pigeon Forge TN, and Amish Country, OH. She was always up for an adventure, whether it was looking at driving around in the car with her grandchildren or taking a spontaneous adventure to the zoo with her family. She would buckle up, grip the grab handle, and sit back ready for the road to lead her to her destination.
Her legacy will carry on to show us when to remain honest, humble, giving, and most of all confident. She was never scared to say what she wanted and go after her end goal. She reminded us to take action when we needed to and live by strong values and morals. She was a self-assured person who chose to live a life full of kind spirit, thoughtful giving, and sincere service to those around her, modeled after her savior Jesus Christ.
