Betty Lois Shepherd

Betty Lois Wiles Shepherd, 82, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Born in Morgantown, Betty was the daughter of the late Elmer Ray (Bill) Wiles and Jessie Pauline Hawley Wiles. An original homesteader of Arthurdale, WV, Betty worked for West Virginia University as a library assistant and supervisor of WVU telephone operators. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Patricia Ann Shepherd (Dr. Jean Moise) of Herndon VA; sons, William Patrick Shepherd, II of Morgantown, WV and Robert Joseph (Kaylynn) Shepherd of Arthurdale, WV; her uncle and aunt John Robert (Bob) and Lorraine Wiles; three grandchildren, Jessica Lucille Moise, Michael Shepherd Moise, and Danielle Ashley Moise, all of Herndon, VA. Her family would like to thank Dr. Rebecca Schmidt, Dr. Lauren Veltri, and Dr. Saad Khan for their compassion and guidance. We would also like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Loraine Tyre for her wisdom, strength, and friendship as we met the challenge of her illness. Visitation will be held at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Saturday, June 15 from 10a.m. until time of services at 12 noon with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at the Arthurdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthurdale Heritage Society PO Box 850, Arthurdale, WV 26520.
