Betty L. (Taylor) McClurg passed away peacefully at her home on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 21, 1940, in Masontown, West Virginia, the daughter of E. Hugh and Ada Mae Taylor.
Betty found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially listening to country music and faithfully keeping up with General Hospital. As the devoted mother of six children, she dedicated her life to caring for her family. Though raising a large family left little time for hobbies of her own, Betty found her greatest fulfillment in creating a loving home, nurturing those she loved, and always putting the needs of her family before her own. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker whose love was expressed through her constant care and quiet selflessness. She was very handy in the kitchen and was known for her macaroni salad, potato soup and chicken and dumplings.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell "Mac" McClurg; her cherished son, Michael "Mac" McClurg, who passed away in 2020; and her beloved grandchildren, Zachary 'Zac' Seese and Joshua Luzader, Nicole 'Nikki' Rose; great grandbaby, Brennan Makai Rose; her siblings, Patty Corbin, Carolyn Liston, Dora Cordwell, Douglas Hugh and Melvin Lee Taylor.
She is survived by her devoted children: Monica (Buck) Taylor, of Wadestown; Barry McClurg of Morgantown; Penny Luzader of Morgantown; Corinne Seese and fiancé (Ken Swiger), of Morgantown; and Shawn McClurg of Morgantown. She is also survived by her beloved sister Denise Radcliff and brother Douglas Lee Taylor.
Betty's greatest joy was her family, and she will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Denzil Luzader III; Jessica Rogers, Amanda Jo McClurg, Nathan Strickler; Barry McClurg Jr., Kirsten McClurg; Rachel Seese; and Gabe Seese.
She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Tyrus Cole, Zane Rose Brooke Rose, Kaila Rose, Charlie Parks, Dezirae Luzader, Autumn Luzader, Bryan Zeigler, Wyatt Zeigler, Erika Rogers, Kinsley Rogers, Avery Rogers, and Ember McClurg.
Betty also held a special place in her heart for her beloved feline companions, Winston, Webster and Waylynn, who brought her countless moments of comfort and companionship.
Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home 10 S. High St. Morgantown, WV 26501 on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 10 AM until time of services at Noon with Pastor Doug Steele officiating. Interment will follow at the Forks of Cheat Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Betty's memory to Morgantown Hospice, 3596 Collins Ferry Road, Suite 250, Morgantown, WV 26505.
