Betty Lou Kelley

July 27, 1930 — March 29, 2016

Betty Lou Kelley, 85, a long-time resident of Morgantown, WV entered into eternal peace in her home on March 29, 2016. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that loved and cherished her.

Betty was born July, 27, 1930 in Fairmont, WV. She moved to Morgantown in 1946 and graduated from University High School in 1949.

She was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. Her loving spirit radiated with her actions and words, and she always found a way to see the best in everyone that she encountered. She loved to help and encourage others, and was never afraid to say exactly what was on her mind and give a compliment. Her presence made others feel safe, secure, and loved.

Betty loved to play cards, go to garage sales, bake and cook. Many people were fortunate to receive pies, fudge, vegetable soup and spaghetti made by Betty and her husband. Betty was a wonder through the years. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family. Betty was a wonderful babysitter for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years of marriage, Thomas Kelley of Morgantown; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Hayes of Bruceton Mills, and Cheryl and Ronald Snyder of Morgantown; step-daughter, Janet Kelley of GA; two stepsons, William E. Kelley and wife, Imogene of Morgantown and Thomas P. Kelley of Morgantown; and Sherry Erwin of OH. She leaves behind three brothers, Jim Foster and wife, Lynn of OH, Roger Foster and wife, Judy of CA, and David Foster and wife, Kathy of AZ; four sisters, Colleen Groves of Morgantown, Patty Smith of OH, Diane Gilbersleeve and husband, Herbert of NY, and Norma Floccari and husband, Joe of FL. Her grandchildren: John A. Hayes II and wife, Natalie of SC, Kimberly Thaler and husband, James of Bruceton Mills, Cody Hayes of SC, Tracy Hayes of Bruceton Mills, Douglas Snyder and wife, Michelle of Morgantown, Kelly Nicholas and husband, Mike of PA, Melissa Carlson and husband, Jason of Fairmont, Trudy Kelley and fiancé, Glenn Chanler of Morgantown, Brandi Gray of Hepzibah, Debra Kelley Love and husband Matt of Fairmont, Steven Pauley and wife, Vita of GA, Michael Pauley of GA, Becky Erwin and husband, Jason of OH, and Paul Erwin and wife, Diane of OH; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Keith Hemmann; a grandson, Chad Hemmann; two brothers, Harry Foster and Gene Foster; a sister, Marketa Cantoni; and her parents Earl and Edith Foster.

She was a blessing to all who knew her, and was a perfect example what it means to be Christ-like. She shared her faith with her family and friends, and it was reflected in the way that she lived her life. She made the most of every day and shared her kind heart and relentless compassion with everyone. Her spirit will live on in the lives of those she touched and she will always be remembered and cherished.

A special thank you to her dear friends Debbie, Giles and Bethany Wright and Mary Kay Southerland for their constant friendship, caring and loving attention throughout Betty’s life. Thanks also, to the Hospice staff for the wonderful care given to Betty.
