Betty Harris-Green, age 94, passed away on Tuesday January 25, 2011, at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehab Center, Morgantown, WV. She was born on May 20, 1916 in West Alexander, Pa., and was preceded in death by her parents, George Donley and Margaret Straus Donley, and also by her first husband, Fred C. Harris, and by her second husband, Harold Green, and by her eldest son, David D. Harris. She is survived by one son, Daniel Harris (Carol), of Greenville, SC., and three stepchildren, Ellen Kuroglian (Jerry), of Fairfield, CT., Scott Green of West Hollywood, CA., Tom Green of Algonguin, IL., one granddaughter, Beth DeBiase of Alexandria, VA., one grandson, Michael Garrett, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She loved, lived and prayed for peace and a more gentle world and supported several environmental causes. She was a pianist, Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church, published poet and a member of Morgantown's literary discussion group. She will be missed by countless neighbors, friends and fellow supporters of music, poetry and literature. Cremation will be provided by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. In lieu of visitation, a memorial service will be held later this spring at First Presbyterian Church.
