Bessie Virginia Tichenor

Bessie Virginia Tichenor, 91, of Morgantown passed away Thursday August 20, 2015 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born June 16, 1924 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of the late Ernest and Bricie Louella Tucker Koon. Bessie loved to read and took great pride in her flowers. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and was her co-pilot on many road trips. She is survived by her daughter Arlene Kay Newman and husband Gorman of Morgantown; brothers Ernest Edward Koon, Clyde Koon both of Morgantown, James Koon of Hillister, TX; sister Ann May Miller of Michigan; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Bessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Arlynn Tichenor; son Dale Tichenor; daughter Julian Smith; five brothers Lawrence Koon, Lester Koon, Howard Koon, Joseph Koon, and Jackie Lee Koon; and a sister Norma Jean Kelly. Services will be held at Beverly Hills Garden of Tranquility Mausoleum on Monday August 24, 2015 at 2pm with Pastor William Page officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Monongalia General Hospital 4th Floor for all of the care and support given to Bessie and her family.
