Bessie Pearl Robinson Murray

Bessie Pearl Murray, a beloved member of the Morgantown community, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, at the age of 100. She was surrounded by loved ones at the Windy Hill Village in Kingwood, WV, where she had been residing. Bessie's life was filled with cherished memories and a deep love for her family.

Born on March 30, 1923, in Morgantown to William and Jessie Brewer McCormick, Bessie grew up in a warm and loving household. She dedicated many years of her life to working at Conner's Cleaners in Morgantown, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor.


Bessie embraced the Nazarene faith, finding solace and inspiration in her religious beliefs. She was a woman of many passions and interests. Traveling was one of her greatest joys, and she had the privilege of visiting various destinations, including Hawaii and Germany. However, her heart always held a special place for the trips she took to Atlantic City with her daughters, creating lifelong memories together.


A vibrant spirit, Bessie loved attending dances at the local VFW, where she could let loose and enjoy the company of friends. She was also a skilled homemaker, finding fulfillment in cooking and baking delicious treats. Holidays held a special significance for Bessie, and she relished the joy of shopping for loved ones during those festive seasons.


Bessie is survived by her loving daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Bee of Core and Kimberly (Eddie) Galusky of Morgantown. She was a proud grandmother to William White of Morgantown, Michele Shaver of North Carolina, and Amber Galusky of Morgantown. Additionally, she leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, who brought joy and laughter into her life. Bessie's legacy will also be carried on by her numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Bill Murray, six brothers, three sisters, and her grandson Colin Shaver. The loss of these dear souls deeply impacted Bessie, but her resilience and unwavering faith helped her find strength during difficult times.


A gathering of friends and family will take place on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home from 4 PM until 8 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Tim Warnick, will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM. Following the service, Bessie will rest at the Beverly Hills Mausoleum.


Bessie Pearl Murray will be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
