Beryl L. Bolyard

Beryl L. Bolyard, 86, of Collins Ferry Road passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his home. He was born on August 14, 1925 in Thornton, WV to the late Alvie and Lula Walters Bolyard. Beryl graduated from Grafton High School and joined the US Coast Guard, where he served honorably during WWII aboard the USS General M.C. Meigs. Proud of his service in the Coast Guard, Beryl organized and attended many reunions with former shipmates. He was employed at Sterling Faucet, where he retired as Director of Manufacturing after 46 years of service. Beryl continued to stay active and involved in his community after retirement. He was a devout and dedicated member of the Osiris Shriners, Mountaineer Patrol, and Morgantown Shrine Club. Other memberships included Suncrest Kiwanis, Morgantown Elks Lodge 411, American Legion, Joseph W. Summers Masonic Lodge No. 173, and the American Red Cross. He was a lifelong member of Suncrest United Methodist Church. Beryl was a passionate and talented woodworker. The multitude of pieces he made over the years are treasured by his children and grandchildren. Every year, he created handmade gifts for Kiwanis. Although proud of his community service and hobbies, Beryl's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Beryl is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years Mrs. Kathaleen Bolyard, daughter Judy Ann Dudzik, son Michael L. Bolyard and wife Leah, all of Morgantown; a sister Billie Moore and husband Robert of Thornton, WV; grandchildren Tommy Albertazzie and wife Jennifer, and Hayley Lang and husband Kevin all of California, Stephen Dudzik and wife Holly, Ryan Dudzik and wife Sara, Kasey Kay Bolyard and Lindsay Ann Bolyard, all of Morgantown; and great grandchildren Jake, Emma, Carter, Benjamin, Claire, Trent, Aubrey, and Payton. Also surviving are sons-in-law Thomas Albertazzie and Stanley Dudzik. In addition to his parents, Beryl was preceded in death by one beloved daughter, Susan Kay Albertazzie; three brothers, Carl, Junior, Howard and one sister Mildred Evans. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, May 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, or on Tuesday at Suncrest United Methodist Church from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev. Tim Halloran officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by Westover VFW Post 9916 and the US Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Beryl Bolyard to the MHS Band Pasadena Travel Fund, c/o Kim Dougan PO Box 496, Morgantown, WV 26507 and/or Shriners Hospital for Children c/o Osiris Shrine Center 91 Kruger St, Wheeling, WV 26003.
