Barbara Jane Richards

Barbara Richards, 80, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on August 27, 2024. Born and raised in Morgantown, she was the daughter of the late Connie Gilbert Blaney and Sarah Myers.

Barbara was a devoted mother and homemaker, who found joy in her role nurturing her family and maintaining a warm, loving home. She also worked for many years as a housekeeper at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital, where her dedication and hard work were well known and appreciated.

Barbara's love extended beyond her human family to her cherished fur babies—Patches, Mini, and Remy—who were her constant companions.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Benjamin Richards, and her son, Melvin Keith Richards. Barbara is survived by her sons, Jeff Richards (Susie), Daniel Richards (Nita), and Dale Richards (Michelle); her daughter, Debbie Sansenbach; her brother, Andrew "Dude" Blaney; and her sister, Diana Wood (Larry). She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her love and care.

A visitation will be held on September 5th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a private graveside service for the immediate family.

Barbara's family and friends will always remember her unwavering commitment to her loved ones, her compassion, and her ability to bring warmth into every room she entered.
