Arlene Sue Nuce, a bright and caring woman, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown after a short illness. She was 77 years old. Sue was born on June 25, 1947, in Masontown, West Virginia. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Sue was known for her big smile, warm heart, and joyful laugh that made everyone feel welcome.
She was raised by her grandparents, Charles and Violet Piper, who preceded her in death. Growing up in Preston County, Sue was always ready to lend a hand and help her community. After graduating from West Preston High School, she worked many different jobs, including at Shoney’s restaurant, as a hospital aide, in home health care, and later greeting customers at McDonald’s, where her smile brightened everyone's day.
Sue shared 40 happy years of marriage with her husband, Kevin D. Nuce. Together they raised a loving family: daughter Glenda McCord, son Elbert "J.R." McCord, Jr., daughter Serita Lipscomb, and son Brad Nuce. Sue was proud of her seven grandchildren, Timberlyn Kramer, Tiffany Sims, Sadie McIntire, Samantha Semerad, Anthony Allen, Alexis McCord, and Jesse Lipscomb—and loved spending time with her four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Parotta of Florida, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Kay McIntire.
Sue lived life with enthusiasm, whether she was haggling at a flea market or taking in the quiet beauty of Amish country. A collector, she surrounded herself with Beanie Babies, angels, bears, and an array of shot glasses, each with its own story. Known for her infectious sense of humor, Sue never met a game of BINGO she didn't love, bringing laughter and fellowship to every table she graced.
One quote that fits Sue’s life perfectly is by Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Sue made everyone around her feel loved and special.
We will always remember Sue for her kindness, her humor, and the joy she brought to so many lives. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 5 PM until 7 PM and again on Thursday from 11 AM until time of services at 12 PM with Pastor Ray Frankhouser officiating. She will rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
