Archie Dee Galeota, 79 of Fairmont, formerly of Maidsville passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 at the Pleasant Acres Christian Haven Personal Care Home in Fairmont. Archie was born December 19, 1932 in Morgantown son of the late William and Luanna Crytser Galeota. After school Archie began his career as a mechanic at Point Marion Ford. He then travelled to Cleveland, OH to work on jet engines for General Electric. Archie and his family would return home and he continued his career in the coal mines. After being laid off he went to work a short time for Fike Chevrolet in Masontown, PA. Ultimately, Archie ended up back in the coal mines of CONSOL and would retire with 35 years of faithful service. He was a member of the UMWA and was very proud of his work. Archie was a master of all trades and rarely came across something he could not repair. He took great pride in his work. Archie's work was important to him but his family was far more valuable. He will be fondly remembered as a traditional family man. Although his career took him many places, his greatest achievement came on the day he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. Archie is survived by two daughters, Belinda Matthews and husband JR of Morgantown, Janet Spine and husband Samuel of Fairmont; grandchildren Rob Matthews of Fairmont, Zach Matthews of Knoxville, TN, Heather Kellum of Fairmont and Apryl Dunn of Morgantown; great grandchildren Brady and Colton Matthews, Grace and Gaven Matthews, Daniel, DeVante and Andrew Spine and Addyson Dunn. Also surviving is one sister Faye Pounds and husband Paul and sister-in-law Virginia Galeota all of Morgantown. In addition to his parents Archie was preceded in death by his wife Nancy; one brother William Bill' Galeota and two grandchildren Corey Matthews and Deanie Matthews. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday July 14, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Sunday from 12 noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Barbara Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Pleasant Acres and Amedysis Hospice for the care and concern shown to Archie.
