Antonia Gainer

Antonia Toni' Gainer, 62, of Wingate, NC passed away Sunday April 24, 2011 at Charlotte Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She was born January 1, 1949 in Morgantown, WV a daughter to the late Paul and Anne Plevich Vrobel. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Monroe, NC. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and later completed the Graduate Certificate Program in Gerontology. She was an activity coordinator and consultant to various nursing homes. Toni enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, watching movies, interior decorating, and arts and crafts. She also enjoyed doing activities for the Human Society including pet therapy. She is survived by her beloved husband Bill Gainer of Wingate, NC; her calico kitty Autumn and her outside kitty LB; two aunts Toni Mitchell of State College, PA and Margaret Hower of Uniontown, PA; and close neighborhood friends Chris Edwards, Constance Forsyth, Fay Goodman, and Beverly Russell. She will be missed by the IVIG Infusion nurses at The Neurological Institute in Charlotte, NC, Father Brad and the people who attend the Tuesday evening Healing Services at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by aunts Mary Plevich, Anne Hovanec, and Helen Helt; and uncles Steve Vrobel, Paul Plevich and Mike Plevich. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday April 28, 2011 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1pm. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held Tuesday May 3, 2011 at 5:30pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Monroe, NC.
