Anthony R. Maholic, Iii

January 5, 1971 — March 8, 2024

Anthony Robert Maholic III unfortunately left us too soon, passing away on Friday, March 8, 2024. Anthony was born on January 5, 1971, in New Kensington, PA. He is the son of Anthony and Candace (Freeman) Maholic of Bridgeport, WV.

Anthony is a 1989 graduate of Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport, WV, where he lettered in both football and baseball. Their football team earned two state championships in 1986 and 1988. Anthony graduated from West Virgina University in 1993, with a bachelor’s degree in political science and criminology. He was a resident of Morgantown, West Virginia.

Anthony worked in the Insurance Industry for 16 years and also the Oil and Gas Industry. Most recently, Anthony worked for West Side Telecommunications as a Communications Specialist for the last seven and a half years.

Anthony was a loving son, husband, father, and so much more. Before anything, he was a loving husband to his wife of 24 great years. With his wife, he brought two great children into this world, which was his greatest accomplishment. He was a loving father to them, whom he talked about and admired greatly. He was an avid sports fan loving his Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Anthony would watch every Steeler game he could and root for the old black and yellow. Fortunately, he had been able to witness all six of the Steelers Super Bowl wins. Along with his sports, he coached baseball in the local little leagues, for his son and the community. He loved coaching and teaching his players everything he knew about baseball.

Anthony was also an avid outdoorsman who loved both fishing and hunting, though if he had to pick between the two it would be fishing, specifically Fly Fishing. Fly fishing was one of his greatest joys, and he loved it the most. He would take trips to his beloved Tucker County, West Virginia, where he spent the most time fishing. West Virginia, to him, was the greatest place in the world. With its natural beauty of mountains and rivers it was all he ever needed. Anthony would always say, “When I retire, I am buying land and building a cabin somewhere in the mountains of West Virginia.” He was so keen on what he wanted to do and of course, it involved being in the wilderness.

Anthony  enjoyed vacationing in the south with his family each summer. Many memories were made floating the Cheat and the Youghiogheny Rivers.

Anthony is survived by the love of his life, teammate and best friend, Amy (Weiss) Maholic. His pride and joy were his two children, Clay Anthony (22) and Gillian Marie (17). He is also survived by his parents, Anthony and Candace Maholic, a sister Jaime Lee (Ryan) Chandler, nieces, Kaylee Marie Maholic-Smith and Elliana Therese Koulouris and nephews, Grayson Ryan Chandler and Spiro Brisbin Koulouris.

Aunts- Penny (Jim) Regent, Jackie (Jim) Russ, Julie (Mike) Perry

Uncles- Les (Joyce) Maholic, Robert (Mary Ann) Maholic, John E (Debi) Freeman

And many cousins.
