Anne Dudley Hamilton, 54 of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at WVU Hospital. Anne fought courageously against stage four gallbladder cancer after being diagnosed eight months ago. Anne was born in Alexandria, VA on June 8, 1963, daughter to the late Margot Clifton Moffat Hamilton and Floyd Wentworth Hamilton.
Anne was an accomplished, professional, freelance musician and teacher. She was a member of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra viola section since 1986. Other orchestras she performed with included the Seneca Chamber Orchestra, Ohio Valley Symphony, West Virginia Wesleyan College Orchestra, Fairmont State University Orchestra, River Cities Symphony Orchestra and the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. Anne enjoyed teaching violin, viola and cello to area students in Fairmont and Morgantown in addition to faculty appointments at West Virginia Wesleyan College and Fairmont State University. Anne also enjoyed traveling, taking pictures of the moon and sunset, playing cards and board games, learning about homeopathic treatments and eating Asian food with family and friends.
Anne is survived by her sister, Margot Elizabeth Hamilton and husband Victor Arpad Döme; brother, Lindsay Wentworth Floyd Hamilton and wife Margaret Hamilton; sister and brother-in-law, Kerri and John Döme; sister-in-law, Gabrielle Victoria Cooney. Also surviving, are her nieces, nephews, Moira, Jack and Maeve of Bethesda, MD, Aaron and Andrew of Springboro, OH, Skylar and Anastasia of Mansfield, OH.
Friends may join the family at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 309 Baldwin St, Morgantown, WV on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 3:00pm for a celebration of life for Anne.
