Anna Lee Brown

January 22, 1939 — July 22, 2015

Anna Lee Brown, wife, mother and talented potter passed away peacefully July 22, 2015. A life-long resident of Morgantown, West Virginia, she was the devoted wife of Lyle L. Brown for 59 wonderful years. Anna lived a life full of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity. She is best known by most people as the self taught potter and owner of Brown's Creations in Clay, a thriving pottery business she solely ran and operated for close to 50 years. Anna also had a love for plants and it was the combination of plants and clay that made her hand built pottery so unique and sought after by many people and businesses such as Tamarack, Greenbrier, Old Stone House, Snow Shoe, WV Market Place and QVC. Her flower and herb gardens have been enjoyed by people from all over the world, and Anna made many life-long friendships with her visitors. She was like an ambassador of the Mountain State which she loved and once said "we are all of the same clay." One of Anna's favorite quotes was "Out of Earth with understanding the Potter makes everything." In addition to her husband, Lyle, Anna is survived by four daughters: Mary Kay Barnes, Sandy and Norm Swann, Beckie Thompson and Tom Tamasco, Sue Ellen and Rick Mergl; seven grandchildren Amy Barnes, Meg Ryan Barnes, Andrew and Jennifer Swann, Oliver and Socorro Lee, Ashley Thompson, Danielle and Henry Moody, and Rick Mergl Jr.III; and eight great grandchildren. Anna was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and enjoyed the time and fellowship she spent with her church friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in memory of Anna Lee Brown to the Fairview United Methodist Church, c/o Treasurer James Cavender 3020 Meadowland Dr., Morgantown, WV 26505. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.FredJenkinsFuneralHome.com
