Andrew Yerkovich, Sr., 85, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 6, 1932 in Four States, WV a son of the late Peter and Tekla Yerkovich.
Andrew honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Army’s 11th and 82nd Airborne. He retired as a safety director from CONSOL Coal Company after nearly 40 years of service.
He loved listening to and playing music, traveling, and bowling. He also had a passion for gardening. Andrew also enjoyed his monthly breakfasts with his mining friends.
He is survived by a son Andrew Yerkovich, Jr. of Morgantown; daughters Andrea DeWitt and husband Joe of Somerset, PA, Theresa Yerkovich, Cindy Liddle and husband Bill all of Morgantown; sisters Mary Revel of Florida, Olga Jean Lyons of Carlisle, PA; sisters-in-law Dorothy Cosner of Cassville, Jean Spicer of Core; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Edna Bell Spicer Yerkovich in 1991; daughter-in-law Donna Yerkovich; and three brothers and their wives Raymond and Mary Yerkovich, Edward and Betty Yerkovich, and Peter and Virginia Yerkovich.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday July 16, 2017 from 6-8pm and again on Monday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont with military honors conducted by Westover VFW Post 9916 and WVANG Honor Guard, Camp Dawson, Kingwood, WV.
