Alvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coworker, and friend whose larger-than-life personality touched everyone he met.

Alvin Lawson, 46, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Alvin was born April 10, 1980, in Morgantown to Marian and the late Paul 'Eddie' Lawson.

Alvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coworker, and friend whose larger-than-life personality touched everyone he met. His greatest joy was his family, and he was especially excited to welcome his unborn son, Brayden, into the world. Although his life was cut far too short, the love he shared with those around him will continue to live on through them.

A mechanic by trade, Alvin worked at Streets Motors in Masontown, where he charmed everyone he met with his quick wit and big personality.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Shawna, and their children: Alvin, age 1; Paul (Michael), age 3; Gabrielle, age 5; his daughter Abigail, age 12; his daughter Maci, age 16; Madigan, age 18; Zachary, age 23; and his unborn son, Brayden. He is also survived by his brothers, Dave (Sunshine) Lawson and their son, DJ; Ralph (Michelle) Lawson and their children; Paul Lawson; and Tracy Lawson. He additionally leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Alvin never met a stranger. A true social butterfly, he loved spending time outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, attending demolition derbies, mud bogs, and making memories with family and friends. He loved to go mudding and was known for needing a tow on more than one occasion, usually at night, calling to wake up one of his brothers to come to his aid. He will be remembered for his infectious spirit, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his generous heart. He was the kind of man who would gladly give you the shirt off his back without expecting anything in return.

A hardworking provider, Alvin dedicated himself to caring for his family. He loved his children beyond measure and would do anything for them or for his wife. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his laughter, kindness, and unforgettable personality will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, West Virginia, on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Honoring Alvin's wishes, cremation will follow the service.
