Alta Nell Langdon

My home is brighter far than Sharon's rosy plain Eternal life and joy throughout its vast domain; My Sov'reign bids me tell how mortals there may dwell And that's my business for my king "The Kings Business" E.T. & Flora Cassel Alta Nell Langdon, 83, of Mount Morris, PA, passed into the arms of her Lord Thursday August 19, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Morgantown on March 7, 1927 to the late Walter and Alta Cross Mitchell. She was a 1945 graduate of Morgantown High School. She married Mr. Pearl Langdon of Glenwood, WV on September 9, 1950 at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church on Arch and Ray Streets in South Park. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary. She served as deaconess and deaconess emeritus and Women's Missionary Auxiliary treasurer at the C&MA Church for many years. She loved to encourage those around her through serving, with her husband, at area nursing homes on Sundays, and baking and writing letters to retired pastors and missionaries. She is survived by her husband; a son Daniel Langdon and wife Dottie; a son Earl Langdon; three granddaughters Katherine Bartal of Roseville CA, Christine Feathers and husband Adam, and Corialise Langdon all of Morgantown; and a great granddaughter Elizabeth Bartal also of Roseville, CA. She is also survived by two sisters Leola McKinney of Morgantown and Betty Cook and husband John of San Bernardino, CA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother Walter; and a brother-in-law Walter McKinney. The family will celebrate her life with a viewing at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday August 21, 2010 from 6-8pm and on Sunday from 1-4pm. Mrs. Langdon will lie in repose on Monday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church from 12noon until the time of services at 1pm with Pastor Andrew Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. The family request memorial donations be made to the Gideons International at www.gideons.org or through the local chapter.
