Alta Marie 'Boonie' Jones

July 16, 1952 — February 18, 2016

Alta “Boonie” Jones, 63, of Grant Town, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Martha Johnson, born July 16, 1952, in Washington, departed this earthly life Thursday, February 18, 2016, when an angel was dispatched from heaven to Ruby Memorial hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., to escort her to her heavenly home. She will continue on in the memory of those who knew and loved her, especially her relatives and friends.

She met, fell in love, and married Jesse L. Jones Jr. of Grant Town. From this union they had a blended family of six children.

Mrs. Jones was employed by Aegis, until she retired for health reasons.

She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing, in addition to her beloved husband of 32 years, four daughters, Angela Jones of Grant Town, Anita Frazier and husband Deion Frazier of Jacksonville, Fla., Janeice Martin of Grant Town and Arlean Wallace and husband Sean Wallace of Bronx, N.Y.; two sons, the late Jesse L. Jones III, who preceded her in the journey to her heavenly home, and Duane Martin of Fairmont, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Jessica Frazier, Thomas Hall, Dedrick John, Dominick John, Akeelah Wallace, Matthew Stanley, Alycia Stanley, Trenton Stull and Malena Stull; great-granddaughter Aniya Inman; and god daughter LaShawna Norman and husband Charles of Gainesville, Va.

Mrs. Jones had a large number of family members including a brother, the Rev. George Hickey; a sister, the late Florence Parker; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

Her memorial homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, in Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, Grant Town. Family and friends will be received at the church following the memorial service, with the Rev. Wesley Q. Dobbs offering the eulogy.
